Squarespace to Shopify, including what will not export
Squarespace exports some things and not others. We rebuild what is missing, move your blog and pages, and redirect your old URLs so nothing breaks.
Why Squarespace stores move
Squarespace is excellent for beautiful sites with a small shop. Stores move when commerce becomes the main business: more products, more variants, inventory across locations, more payment options, or apps Squarespace does not support.
The export gaps
- Physical products export, others may not. Squarespace's product export covers physical products. Digital products, services and gift cards may need to be recreated by hand, so we list them first.
- Blog and pages. The site export Squarespace offers is designed for WordPress and does not cover everything. Pages built with layout blocks often need to be rebuilt rather than imported.
- Variants. Products with many option types have to fit Shopify's three option structure.
- Images. Images need to be downloaded and re-attached to the right products and variants.
- URLs. Squarespace product URLs usually include your shop page path and /p/. They all change on Shopify and need redirects.
Design that does not take a step back
Squarespace owners usually care about design, and a generic Shopify theme can feel like a downgrade. We set up or customize the theme so your new store looks at least as good as the old one, with your fonts, spacing and photography treated properly.

- Inventory everything on the site: products by type, pages, posts, forms, member areas
- Export what Squarespace allows and plan what must be rebuilt
- Import products with variants and images
- Rebuild key pages in Shopify with matching design
- Move blog posts with images and formatting
- Redirect every old URL
- Point the domain and verify in Search Console
Questions, answered
Can I keep my Squarespace design?
Not the code itself, but we can recreate the look in a Shopify theme closely, and often improve it on mobile.
What about my Squarespace member areas?
Shopify does not have member areas built in. Customer accounts, an app or a small custom portal can replace them depending on what members get.
Do my email subscribers move?
Yes. Subscribers can be exported and imported with their marketing consent.
